2008 - 09 Presidents Elect Training

The 2008 Rocky Mountain Zone Presidents Elect Training Seminar was held in Denver, CO, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday  morning, February 28th to March 2nd, 2008.  Your President Elect, Bill Price, and President Elect-Elect, Lance Lerner attended this year's meetings.
The first two days were our District 5390 Pre-PETS training, where our very own District Governor Elect, Mark Frisbee, held training meetings just for our district incoming president elects and presidents elect-elects.  The state of Montana happens to be one Rotary District and consists of forty-one clubs, with the new Glendive Rotary in a start-up status.
For starters, Rotary is having us re-organize our club structure.  Our current primary areas of Rotary service, Club, Community, International, and Vocational will not go away.  They will just all go under one heading for your Board of Directors to administrate.

The new organization consists of five (5) major sectors:  Club Administration; Club Service ( to include our local, international and youth projects); Rotary Foundation; Membership; Public Relations.
Club Administration will be your Board of Directors and Officers, Classification, Programs, Recognition and Rewards, and our new Grants Committees.
Club Service will have our service projects, local, international and youth.  There is quite a list, as we are a very busy club.  Just to name a few, and in no particular order:  Career Development; Agriculture; Sourdough Trail; Youth Recognition and Interact at BHS; International Peace Park; Group Study Exchange; International Student Exchange; Pony Express Ride, and I know I have missed others!!!
Rotary Foundation is self explanatory, and will include our Rotary Information needs as well.  You will remember, the Bill and Malinda Gates Foundation has gifted Rotary International $100,000,000.  In late June or early July, we will all know the club obligation for a three year program to match those funds.  District 5390 has pledged to do our three year pledge in one year.  It amounts to about $75.00 per member, so our rough goal will be between $9,000 and $10,000, to hopefully completely finish off Polio worldwide.   Lots more to follow here!
Membership is a key area, as all volunteer organizations have to at least sustain and hopefully grow in just pure numbers.  This part of our club will be responsible to set up our member mentor program, encourage and develop fellowship opportunities, and to constantly promote each of us as an example, capable of bringing new members to the greatness of Rotary.
Public Relations is certainly an assist to membership, but Rotary International rightfully tells us we just do not toot our own horn enough.  So we will dedicate more time and resources to do just that.  The quarterly "Humanity in Motion" newspaper insert we do with other area clubs is a good start, but we can do better.
That's it for now.  Your current President, Todd Williamson, President Elect Bill Price, and President Elect-Elect, Lance Lerner are started on the annual transition of leadership.  YOU ARE ALL LEADERS, or you would not be a Rotarian.  The 2008-09 Rotary year is almost upon us, and we look forward to continuing the successes of the Bozeman Noon Rotary Club.
Respectfully,
Bill Price, 2008-09
